  3.     AILING. Bernhard Goetz, 42, who in 1984 ignited racial
  4. controversy by shooting four black youths who he claimed were
  5. menacing him in a New York City subway car; with testicular cancer;
  6. in New York City. Acquitted of attempted murder and assault but
  7. convicted of carrying an unlicensed handgun, Goetz served eight
  8. months in prison. Darrell Cabey, partially paralyzed by one of
  9. Goetz's shots, is suing him for $50 million.
